MCALLEN - Wet road conditions and poor visibility put a huge damper on drivers for their morning commute On Wednesday .
For Delinda Cavazos of McAllen, she says it is scary to drive in slick conditions and only drives out of necessity when the roads are wet. Cavazos says, "I woke up this morning at 5:45 in the morning and saw this weather, it stormed, it was raining, it was ugly, i mean it is ugly to be driving out there."
Heavy rains can create dangerous driving conditions on both roads and the interstate. The Texas Department of Transportation stresses that even though you may be in a hurry, it's important to follow proper driving distances between cars to avoid accidents.
They also say to drive slower, look out for pedestrians, and avoid driving distractions like texting or talking on the phone, and now to be extra mindful when driving since kids are back in school.
