Celebrations continued for National Hispanic Heritage Month, an observation of culture and traditions for Latin America countries that recognize contributions by Hispanic Americans to the United States.
Here in the Valley at the International port of entry in Progreso, folkloric dancers and a mariachi band from Economedes high school performed for Custom officers and Valley residents. Observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week then was expanded to 30 days in 1988. National Hispanic Heritage Month began September 15th and goes through October 15th.
