Investigation Underway in Death of Man in Custody

HIDALGO COUNTY — An investigation is underway at the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office in the death of 51 year-old Ramiro Hernandez who was arrested on traffic violations and then died in the custody of the department. After Hernandez was booked at the sheriff's office he suffered a seizure and then collapsed causing medical personnel to contact EMS who then transported  Hernandez  to Edinburg Regional where he died. This is the second death of a person under custody of the department and a criminal and internal investigation are being conducted.
