"I would like my mail delivered here instead of renting a PO Box, I am not able to see to go get it, why would I inconvenience someone else to go get it?"
This is Selene Saldana. She lives in the La Estancia Apartments in Sebastian. She is legally blind and says she isn't getting mail delivered to her home.
"They told me they didn't have the manpower and they are not going to deliver to me only."
Currently residents have to set up a PO Box at the post office and go pick up their mail there.
Sam Bolen with the United States Post Office says that's because the apartment complex doesn't have centralized post office boxes set up.
"The apartment complex needs to install boxes for all its residents so we can extend delivery there."
Bolen says that's the apartments responsibility. Once that's done the apartment complex's address will be in the USPS system for mail to be delivered.
As for Saldana once that's done the post office says she can qualify for a hardship delivery.
"We will have to put a mail receptacle at the door of the apartment complex, she will have to talk to the owners of the apartment complex, once they do that we should have no problem."
We spoke with the La Estancia Apartment manager. She says she is currently working with the post office to resolve this issue.
