On Wednesday, two families remembered the horrific shooting tragedy of two students at Harwell middle school which has left one victim paralyzed. During an after school boys basketball practice, Edson Amaro and Nicholas Tijerina were hit by stray bullets. Both teens survived the shooting but both were hospitalized for several months from their wounds. Edson still faces future surgeries and Tijerina was left paralyzed and his mother says her son is handling the anniversary well, "Today, you know Nicko was telling me, "Mom you know I don't want you to be sad. I want us to celebrate, you know I survived." So we are going to have a little party, we are going to get hot wings and the family is going to come over and you know he is taking it really well."
The suspected shooter, marksman and avid hunter Dustin Cook, was arrested after the incident and he has been out on bond after a grand jury indicted him for recklessly causing injury to a child.
