Patients who met while recovering from severe burns plan to marry.
A Texas man who was the first American to receive a full face transplant is engaged to marry another burn patient he met in the hospital.
"It's exciting for us," Dallas Wiens said Wednesday.
Wiens, of Fort Worth, was severely injured in a bizarre construction accident in 2008 when he came in contact with a high-voltage power line.
His fiancee, Jamie Nash, of Garland, nearly died in a car crash in Ennis in 2010. Her car erupted in flames, and she was trapped. She was severely burned on her hands, back and legs.
The couple met in a support group at Parkland Hospital, where both were being treated.
"I was drawn to him. I just had to meet him," Nash said. "I just looked at him from across the room, and there was something about him."
