MCALLEN - The hustle and bustle varied today at the post office.
"I was surprised it was this light, it has been rather packed at times," said Tom Carmichael.
Carmichael is one of the few that is done with holiday shipping. He's one of millions that will rely on the U.S. Post Office to send his gifts and cards this holiday season.
"The postal service this year will deliver over 365 million packages this holiday season, and that is up 20 percent over last year," said Patrick Donahoe, USPS CEO.
The McAllen processing plant is expected to handle about 25 percent more package service volume this year. But judging by today, it was hard to see those numbers. Only two out of a hundred said they were there for holiday shipping.
USPS representative said if you don't want to make a trip to the post office, you can get your sending done online.
"USPS.com is a great alternative to going to the post office. You can order free boxes, you can schedule free package pickup, you can pay for your postage online, and you can order your holiday stamps," said Nagisa Manabe, USPS Marketing Chief.
