MCALLEN - The Better Business Bureau is calling it a fake invoice, also known as mail fraud. It is an invoice for the amount of $425.00 appearing to be a maintenance service agreement for a service never provided from an illegitimate company.
Dolores Salinas is the South Texas Regional Office President of the Better Business Bureau and warns the public to be cautious when receiving these invoices and especially not to pay out the money.
The BBB has already received more than 800 complaints regarding the fake invoices. Government action is currently taking place against the scammers sending out the fake bills. However, that is little consolation to those who have already been scammed.
The company goes by several names including UST, also known as US Telecom. The BBB says to contact them if you have received the invoice or anything similar.
