The Texas Education Agency has recommended Brownsville ISD Superintendent, Hector Gonzalez be terminated.
More than 8 months ago on January 12 the Brownsville Independent School Districts Board of Trustees placed Gonzales on administrative leave with pay ordering an investigation of him and BISD's Special Services Department for alleged fiscal and personnel problems . The TEA stepped in and after months of investigation handed down there recommendation to the board that was made public.
Newscenter 23 obtained a copy for the TEA's recommendation by the hearing examiner which states
"I hereby recommend that the BISD Board of Trustees terminate the contract between Mr. Gonzales and Brownsville Independent School District."
We caught up with a Valley teacher to get his opinion about the TEA recommendation and the boards tough decision.
The Board of Trustees will meet within 20 days and within 10 days of that take action regarding this recommendation.
