Kay Bailey Hutchison made a stop in the Valley on Thursday on her campaign for Texas Governor.
Harlingen's Mayor introduced the former Senator, saying many leaders in Washington DC and Austin forget about South Texas and that's not the case with Hutchison. He talked about how she's helped with transportation projects, port projects, roadways and veteran issues. The Republican gubernatorial candidate says she got $600 million dollars to help clean the colonias since then.
She also spoke about the need for a better business climate in Texas and lower taxes for business owners. If elected, Hutchison says it will not be business as usual, she plans to make education an option for every child in Texas and help clean up dropout rates. Hutchison vowed to protect property rights and says she needs help from everyone across Texas.
