High Tides Cause of Closures of Beach Access Points

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — Big waves have been coming onto the shores at South Padre Island creating the possibility of coastal flooding and now county officials have closed beach access five and six. The National Weather Service says the cause for the large waves is from the recent cold front and with the high tides those waves could cause some flooding that could reach the driving paths and sand dunes at those locations.
