HIDALGO COUNTY — While the round up for parents, who have not paid child support, are being arrested it is also hurting the county by increasing the over population of the jail. With some of the fines totaling more than $100,000 dollars some of the alleged offenders could be behind bars for awhile which is a concern for Sheriff Trevino who stated, "This is somewhat of a double edge sword for us, even though we are picking up those, in my opinion, need to be in jail it's not helping my overcrowding problem either." Sheriff Trevino hopes those who were arrested will pay their fines quickly because if they don't more weight will fall on the tax payer to maintain the jail costs to house those individuals.
