It's almost every high school senior's dream to get into college, but soon there will again be a new admissions requirement to the University of Texas in Austin.
UT Austin is raising the bar and making it more competitive in order to be admitted. Currently only the top seven percent of high school seniors in their class ranking are guaranteed an admissions spot. Next year that will change to six percent.
Admission Advisors say it is important that students not only rely on their high school rankings, but instead work on being well rounded.
One alternative for students who don't get accepted into UT Austin, is the coordinated admissions program, which allows them to study at a sister University for one year and then can transfer.
