Local, state and federal authorities rushed to a private ranch north of Benavides where a plane carrying four people crashed around noon on Monday.
There are no signs of any survivors from the flight that began in Uvalde this morning and headed to Florida. According to the FAA, the pilot of the Beechcraft King Air 100, reported turbulence and having trouble maintaining an altitude of 25,000 feet. Just minutes later air traffic controllers lost all contact with the plane and a distress call came in about the same time a cold front was moving into the area.
A DPS chopper was able to locate the wreckage this afternoon and crash investigators from the FAA are expected to arrive at the crash site on Tuesday.
