If you like to stay in touch while in your car...listen up...A cell phone ban in Texas will go into effect when the little ones go back to school.
A new "no talking on your cell phone without a hands-free set" law is weeks away, but parents are already listening up.
Two Brownsville teachers, give the new cell phone law, an "A+" for safety.
"Kids safety comes first, nothing is more important than keeping our kids safe."
She's not only a teacher, but a mother of two.
Beatriz Porras says, when a driver's talking on their cell phone, they're not paying attention 100 percent.
"I myself am guilty of it, i answer my phone and i try to minimze it, but two, three minutes, that could cause an ax."
Porras even says, she's going to re-evaulate the chatting she does while driving.
"I'm even thinking of leaving my cell phone at home, emergencies, just pull over and use a pay phone or something."
Mother of two boys, Martha Gonzalez says, she hopes people will obey the hands free set law.
"They're not paying attention to the road who knows, if their going to speed up, slow down or cause an accident."
And accidents involving students, is exactly what Texas lawmakers are trying to prevent.
Once again, this law goes into effect, September 1st.
