Suspicious package detonated outside of Seattle FBI office.
A suspicious item was detonated outside the FBI offices in downtown Seattle Monday morning.
Officers have since learned the item was not an explosive and did not pose a threat.
The item was first spotted by security guards around 2:00 a.m. outside the Abraham Lincoln building.
The item contained a blinking red light, according to FBI spokesperson Ayn Dietrich.
It was found on top of a metal grate that surrounds a sidewalk tree.
Police were concerned because the building houses FBI offices.
As a precaution, a bomb squad robot was used to detonate the item.
Dietrich said officers later learned the item was not a threat and not explosive.
