SAN JUAN - Cecilia Esparza clings to her grandchild as she remembers the morning. She said right as she got home, her 18 year old son told her he was outside and witnessed a drive by shooting in front of their home on the 700 block of King Road.
"He got scared and he ran inside with my grandkids. And when I came over here he was kind of a bit nervous," said Esparza.
The cops arrested Esparza's son; she believes because he is a known gang member. Police said they are still trying to piece everything together, but that witnesses did provide some information.
"Two vehicles are involved that are of interest to us. It's a maroon Pontiac and a white Pontiac with about three to four male subjects in the white Pontiac and about four male subjects in a maroon one," said Sgt. Rudy Luna, San Juan Police.
Esparza's son and one other male were taken into custody for questioning.
"They are known gang members and they do have a history with us so we are looking into the gang that they are claiming they are with," said Sgt. Luna.
Police won't confirm at this time, but they suspect, and witnesses like Esparza believe, this was a shootout between rival gangs.
"I don't like it and I am scared, because of all the things that are happening," said Esparza.
Police say about ten rounds from a semi-automatic gun was fired. So far, no injuries have been reported.
