Around 3,000 children along with their parents showed up on Wednesday afternoon at the McAllen police headquarters for the annual "Relief for Kids" school supply giveaway.
Officers gave away around $10,000 dollars worth of pencils, paper, folders, crayons, pouches, notebooks and other supplies. Chief Victor Rodriguez says the event was a major success and they'll continue to help the community for years to come.
