H1N1 vaccine could be ready as early as October.
Children across the Rio Grande Valley will be heading back to the classroom in about two weeks, meanwhile Valley health officials are on high alert hoping to prevent another outbreak of the H1H1 virus.
With fall and winter flu seasons just a few months away, health officials believe this could be a challenging season, that is because the H1N1 virus or swine flu is expected to resurface. Schools are of major concern because flu viruses can spread quicker in crowded areas, and school-age children have been the most affected.
When the H1N1 vaccine is ready, which could be as early as October, the first group to receive the medication will be those in the high-risk group, which are young children under five, pregnant women, and adults who have medical conditions.
