Social network plea helped locate donor.
Heather Johnson was having a rotten year.
Her kidneys were only working at five percent normal capacity.
Her husband lost his job and consequently the family's health insurance.
Then she found out her blood type meant a longer wait for a transplant.
That's when she decided to get aggressive and turned to Facebook to try and find a donor last January.
She created a page called "Hope for Heather" and asked everyone she knew to share it with friends.
She kept handing out donor literature and even held a garage sale to raise money for medical expenses as dialysis kept her alive.
Then, on this past Tuesday, she got an unexpected phone call.
An anonymous donor wants to give Johnson a kidney.
She may never know if that donor came to her through Facebook or another avenue.
That donor could potentially still change his or her mind, but so far, so good, Johnson said.
She added that this month has been full of many other blessings, too.
Her husband is working again and the couple will celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary this weekend.
