"Is it scary a mosquito tested positive for West Nile? Yes it is scary."
" I Haven't seen anything like that , kind of risky for the families and everyone's family."
Residents in Colonia Galaxia are a little on edge after the city of Brownsville Public Health Department received confirmation a mosquito tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
"The state labs in Austin, one of the traps, one of the many traps sent into the state tested positive for West Nile virus."
"City officials have been handing out information about the West Nile Virus and how residents in area can protect themselves against it."
"As you can see we have the OFF, we don't go out at night, we try to stay in earlier in the morning too."
Brownsville City Health Director Art Rodriguez says to remove any standing water around your home and offers this advise.
"If they have bitten by a mosquito and suspect they are symptoms of West Nile, fever, nausea, vomiting they need to go and see a health care provider and number two if they see mosquitos report it to there local health department."
City of Brownsville officials continue to work closely with state, the county and other health officials to monitor progression of this virus.
