16-year-old described as "family friend" accused of killing girl left in his care.
Police in Niagara Falls, New York have charged a 16-year-old boy in connection with the murder of 5-year-old Isabella Tennant.
John Robert Freeman, described as a close friend of the girl's family, is accused of killing the girl with his "bare hands".
Police say his friend, 18-year-old Tyler Scott Best, came to police a few hours after the girl was reported missing and confessed to helping Freeman dispose of the body.
He then led them to the girl's remains.
Freeman was described by family members of the victim as a "close" and "trusted" family friend.
They also said it was also not uncommon for him to be in the home and around Isabella unsupervised.
Best and Freeman are described as close friends.
