HOUSTON - Mosquito Season is at its peak and Federal Health Officials are warning cases of West Nile virus are on the rise.
Since West Nile virus entered this country almost 13 years ago, more then 30 thousand Americans have been diagnosed with the illness.
Carried by Birds and transmitted to humans through mosquitoes, West Nile can cause serious problems, espically for those with week immune systems.
Over the years, the virus has seemed to wane. Causing fewer outbreaks and less sickness, But this year that's changed.
Avoid the early morning and early evening hours when Mosquitoes are out.
In higher risk areas, If you must leave home wear long sleeves and long pants to avoid being bitten.
