The system is called School Messenger. It will allow administrators to send messages to parents instantly.
"Now we are going to be able to reach parents through phone message, voice message, and email."
In the past parents were only notified through a call.
Tuesday administrators are learning the system. This system will be critical for emergency situations like the one that happened back in January where 15 year old middle school student Jaime Gonzalez was fatally shot by police inside Cummings Middle School.
"It's important as a parent and an administrator to get this information, so parents will get any information they need."
The school messenger will also be used to give information about school activities.
School administrators are wrapping up their training Tuesday.
"By the end of the day we will have 175 administrators trained on this system."
BISD says they will implement this system for this school year which starts in just a couple weeks.
