PHARR — Many organizations in the Valley are attempting to stomp out hunger this summer by feeding more than eighty children from the Boys and Girls Club in Las Milpas. The children that attend the club this summer will be receiving a summer food bag from the Food Bank to take home every Friday. It's an attempt to bridge the gap of hunger of children during the summer break as one grandmother stated, "Right now it's summer and like they say they get hungry on the weekends. It will be a lot of help for them, for them and for us, because we don't have to cook that much." The program was started three years ago by CPL Retail Energy and the Food Bank of the RGV.
