The Sabal Palm Audubon Center in Brownsville will no longer be open for the remainder of the year.
The nature center usually opens in the fall for visitors who want to see the rare Sabal palms or birds at the center. The Audubon Executive Director says it's due to lack of funding for the center this year. The problem at the center is aggravated by the border fence plan which would cut the preserve into pieces.
