WESLACO — The fledgling football program at the University of Texas at San Antonio wants to turn the Valley into Roadrunner County as UTSA head football coach Larry Coker visited the Valley on Thursday. Coach Coker is well known for coaching the Miami Hurricanes to a national championship in 2001 and now heads the football program at UTSA. He wants to remind Valley residents that there's now a big time division one college program just north from here, "We're here hoping to pull football players, student athletes, just general students. Anybody that really wants a great education and a great experience at UTSA." Coach Coker emphasizes that he plans to heavily recruit top players from the Valley.
