In Rio Hondo, vandals hit a church twice already in just one week, Julio Olivo reports.
Rio Hondo with the population is 1,793 a small community where church goers meet for weekend mass. It's a small church, small community, it's kind of hard to generate funds for the church. Last week someone turned off the electrical breakers at Saint Helen Catholic Church and left the water running all night, flooding the backyard of the church, since then padlocks have been put on the breaker boxes.
This past weekend Saint Helen's had a second strike, someone broke into the back shed of the church and stole lawn equipment, and a $400 dollar vacuum cleaner. Church staff have been told by police that they have a suspect, but have yet to release names. The stolen items, which totaled close to $2,000 dollars, were found at a local pawn shop in Rio Hondo.
