BROWNSVILLE — Juan Angel Guerra filed a petition, on behalf of a Cameron county resident, to remove District Attorney Villalobos from his position. Guerra filed the petition on Wednesday against DA Villalobos who has been indicted on a number of corruption charges including racketeering, extortion and fraud involved in the former 404th District Judge Abel Limas case. Guerra stated that Villalobos has lost all creditability in court, "How can you stand before a jury or a grand jury and say you know, we're presenting evidence for you to indict this person, when you yourself are under indictment. It's just a very, very awkward situation." Guerra, who is in the running for Congress in District 34 against Villalobos, says this filing has no political motivation behind it.
