Two state representatives from the Rio Grande Valley who have fought for more health care in the Valley were proud recipients of the Legislative Champion Award.
Representatives Veronica Gonzalez and Armando Martinez were given the awards for their work during the 81st legislature at the Nuestra Clinica Del Valle in San Juan. Representative Gonzalez has worked toward a physician loan repayment legislation. The program takes a big step toward addressing a physician shortage across the state. It's intended to do is to help physicians pay their student loans if they practice in under served areas of the state like the Rio Grande Valley for at least four years.
