The damage caused by Hurricane Dolly is still visible at the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Madre.
It is a place many children would hang out and it is in dire need of repairs and so when Winter Texans got together to raise money at a local golf tournament and showed there are no boundaries to give back to kids.
Helen Williams along with the help from the SPI Women's Golf Association organized the annual Winter Texans Golf Classic. It is a tournament to raise around $100,000 dollars a year for the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Madre.
Board member Cedric Boyd made the largest donation in the three year old "It Just Takes One" campaign by signing a check for $10,000 dollars. He admits it may sound large, but when taken into consideration for the $300,000 dollars needed for repairs, staff paychecks, programs, technology, supplies, food and more its the community that needs to step up.
The "It Just Takes One" campaign goal is $100,000 dollars for 2009 and the donations from the Winter Texan Golf Classic will go to the Laguna Madre Animal Shelter.
