The Annual National Night Out is just around the corner and McAllen police are making final preparations for their 26th year in participating in the event.
The McAllen Police Department is inviting the entire community to join them this upcoming Tuesday night from 6pm to 9pm. This event is a nationwide crime, drug and violence prevention program that is held every year on the first Tuesday in August. McAllen police chief Victor Rodriguez says National Night Out is not only a good opportunity to meet police officers but people can interact with others in their community, which could be extremely helpful to police in the future.
There will be live music, folkloric dancers, police and fire units at six different locations in McAllen. Those locations are Las Palmas Community Center on 1821 North 25th street, Los Encinos Police Network Center on 2901 West Olga, Encinos del Norte on 32nd Lane between Indian Hill and Kilgore, Regency Estates on the 3000 block of Swallow Ave., Ventana del Sol at Garcia Park at 4300 Nolana, and Heritage Manor 1 on 4th street and Condor Ave.
