It was a big weekend for Episcopal Day School students as they competed in their favorite subject science. Twenty four 5th and 6th graders took part in the Episcopal Schools State Science Fair. The students took fourteen of sixteen awards and 6th grader Shreya Mohanty took first place in the competition and she said, "I wasn't actually expecting to get the grand prize, which means I beat everybody, I wasn't expecting that, so I was very surprised when I got it. I was very happy and pleased." EDS Science Teacher Sandra Morfitt says, "It is a very long term process, they are learning a lot more than just science. They are learning to manage their time, how to take something and break it into parts. Do the research required in the beginning. We usually start this in September coming up with an idea." The Episcopal Day School chess team also had a big weekend placing first in both divisions in the annual prep school championships.
