Senator Eddie Lucio Junior was in Harlingen Wednesday for the State of District Address. In that address he talked about the new medical center coming to Texas State Technical College and future things they would like to bring to the Valley. The senator along with state representatives and the lieutenant governor on hand for the address.
The first point Senator Lucio addressed was passing Senate Bill 98 which was signed by the governor just a few ago in Harlingen. The new bill will bring a high tech medical center to TSTC. He says they are working on funding for it and hopefully have it up and running by 2013. Another topic he talked about dealing with education was for a new university. The Senator wants to bring a Tier One university with advance degrees to the Valley in the near future. The Lieutenant Governor also addressing those issues.
All of the topics the Senator brought up will be discussed in the next legislative session, that will be January 2011.
