RIO GRANDE VALLEY — You may have noticed an increasing number of stories on stash houses recently, so on Thursday, a large number of law enforcement agencies gathered during a news conference showing their unity in fighting against stash houses.
The homes are used to store drugs and hide illegal immigrants by smugglers. There have been 45 stash homes busted across Hidalgo county in the past year and Border Patrol Chief Rosendo Hinojosa stated, "So it doesn't matter who you call. We stand here united, this is not a Border Patrol effort, this is not an HSI effort, this is a law enforcement effort and I am glad to see our partners standing here side shoulder to shoulder with us messaging to the community that we need your assistance."
Law enforcement officials are asking residents to report any suspicious activity that you see in your neighborhood, especially stash houses.
