A Harlingen father will serve four years behind bars for his role in the death of his child.
The jury found Roberto Antonio Alvarez guilty for injury to a child by reckless omission on Tuesday, because he did not seek medical attention for his 2 year-old daughter Mariah Alvarez. The jury came to their sentencing decision in just hours and the judge gave Alvarez credit for time already served. He's been in jail since February 2007 and has less than two years to complete the four year sentence handed down.
The toddlers mother, Meslissa Lucio, is convicted of capital murder for the crime and is currently on death row.
