MCALLEN - Astronaut Mike Fossum is back in the Valley for the first time since his most recent trip to space on the International Space Station.
We've followed his story from space, back to earth and now, finally back to the Valley.
Fossum started his trek around the Valley Saturday and finished up in McAllen on Monday. He made trips to schools, visited with boys scouts and even spoke to local business men and women.
Fossum said he comes back because of friends, but also because he feels everyone should remember the place that shaped them during their youth.
"I can't, I cannot possible pay back the people that inspired me. The teachers that inspired me and pushed me, held me accountable, the scout leaders that held me accountable and pushed me and came looking for me when I wandered off the path and was trying to find trouble. I can't pay them back I can just pay it forward, I hold that responsibility very personally," said Cmdr. Mike Fossum, U.S. Astronaut.
