Operators at the UTPA DTV Call Center were kept busy all day. Most callers still had many questions about the all-digital transition today. But what were the most frequently asked questions?
“A lot of calls are about coupon applications and how to apply.”
But other callers had questions about the digital converter box. Many needed help installing it. While others were successful in that area, they were unlucky getting good reception.
“You hear they're stressed themselves because they can't get it to work.”
The FCC identified the Rio Grande Valley as one of the DTV transition hot spot markets in the U.S. stating a large number of households in this area were unprepared for the switch.
“There are a very high percentage of people that get the TV signal over the air. They don't have cable or satellite.”
If you’re having problems after the transition, the FCC advises to re-scan channels and adjust TV antennas.
For other questions about the digital switch, the UTPA call center will assist you from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. until next Tuesday. You can call at: (956) 381-2088.
