MCALLEN — Local and state officials gathered on Thursday to discuss border security and intelligence sharing for law enforcement coordination.
This year's topic covered on improving coordination and communication between law enforcement agencies and how they can better protect the border against criminal and cartel violence. One solution is an online communication system which would show all different types of crimes happening across the state and record where crimes are more prevalent. Improved technology is what local police stations want access to increase and enhance investigations and collaborating with other agencies.
A number of local, state and federal agencies were able to speak to the panel of officials on their concerns with border security and the feedback will be taken to the Capital in hopes of strengthening safety along the Texas border.
