EDINBURG — Ashley Settle, an Edinburg resident gave birth to a healthy baby girl early Wednesday morning.
A leap year is implemented every 4 years to synchronize the amount of time the earth revolves around the sun in a year. If we didn't have this, over time calendar dates would shift significantly.
The chances of being born on a leap year day are only about one in nearly every 1,500 births.
Settle says her baby's birth certificate is going to have today's date, but like most, during non-Leap Years...Settle will choose to celebrate her daughter's birthday either the day before, or after.
