The dry weather conditions and having any brush left on the side of the road can help start wildfires.
In one Brownsville neighborhood Christmas trees have been dumped in different areas and are yet to be picked up posing a fire hazard. City Manager, Charlie Cabler say the city has a contractor that will pick up brush in residential areas, but the pick up will be once a month.
You can call the City of Brownsville Public Works office at 956.542.7511 to see if they will be in your area. Local firefighters say leaving brush out for days can spark fires and the threat is worse this time of year because of the dry weather.
