BROWNSVILLE — TXDot has extended their "Teen Click It or Ticket" campaign for another year by displaying a mangled truck that saved the lives of two teens who were wearing their seat belts.
The two teens were inside the vehicle when the front tire blew out causing the truck to flip over several times until it came to a stop. TXDot officials say the seat belt compliance law is at 94% across the state, but they're hoping to really bring the message home with teens. TXDot Traffic Safety Specialist Ruby Martinez stated, "However, out of those 6% that are still not wearing their seat belts, we're looking at males, ages 16-20. So part of this campaign is to kind of remind teens that they need to wear their seat belts
