MCALLEN — MCALLEN - It's a virus, that is sweeping across the world. Some have even called it a pandemic. And it is continually infecting more people every day, including people in the Valley.
In Texas between 1200 and 1500 people will die this year from HIV and AIDS. Statistics show that 21 percent of people infected with HIV aren't even aware of their infection.
Public concern for Aids peaked in the late 1980s and 1990s, now many people are under the false impression that HIV and Aids has a cure or that a pill can cure the side affects . This is not the case, and as one Valley woman tells us, living with HIV can take a toll.
News Center 23 Reporter Erin Murray tells us more.
For information about getting tested, support groups or any other concerns with HIV and Aids in the Valley, call the Valley Aids Council or visit their website at http://www.vacinc.org/contact.htm
