President Obama is challenging the Senate to move quickly on his nominee for the Supreme Court.
He wants them to confirm Sonia Sotomayor nomination before lawmakers take their August break. He wants her in place when the court begins their new term in October, but Senate Republicans say they will rigorously question Sonia Sotomayor and won't be rushed and will giver her a fair hearing. Obama introduced Sotomayor as a jurist who takes on cases with "an understanding of how the world works and how ordinary people live."
One local politician couldn't be happier with President Obama's pick for the Supreme Court. We spoke to Democratic Chairman, Gilberto Hinojosa who says Judge Sonia Sotomayor is the most qualified for the position.
Hinojosa, who supported Hillary Clinton during the Democratic race, went on to say he's pleased with what President Obama has been able to accomplish thus far.
