Officers found more than two dozen illegal immigrants inside an immigrant stash house on Sunday morning.
Police arrived at a home on Moorefield road in Alton and that's when the people inside the home started scrambled out of the home. U.S. Border Patrol agents helped catch 18 of the illegal immigrants, but 17 other illegals got away. Hours later, an SUV pulled up the house with four more illegals and officers arrested the four and the driver of the SUV.
Alton Police Chief Baldemar Flores says more boots on the streets is helping make these arrests possible. Alton police received a grant for over $90,000 dollars that help fund for over-time pay and also get new equipment.
