LA JOYA - Many students in La Joya will now have more tools to prepare for college thanks to a strong Valley partnership between South Texas College and the school district.
The partnership will provide additional opportunities for students to get them college ready because students are faced with even more obstacles because of their location. Officials hope the partnership between the college and the district will create even more opportunities for students, especially during these tough economical times. La Joya I.S.D. Superintendent Dr. Alda T. Benavides said, "Higher learning is important, I think we are going to communicating and transforming our communities so that we can have a college going culture so that kids and parents will see that it's not a pre K-12 mentality, but pre K-16. The only question will be what are you going to study not are you going to go to college."
The school's first graduating class will have more than two hundred students who will be college ready.
