Dozens of people who worked at Valley Baptist Medical Center are now searching for work.
Management at the hospitals handed out 64 pink slips on Tuesday with seven employees laid off from Brownsville Baptist Medical Center location, another twelve employees at the Harlingen location and forty-five others also lost their jobs. Most of the positions cut were in the administrative departments and Valley Baptist representatives say those who lost their jobs do have the opportunity to apply for other positions at the hospital.
Some of them will also receive severance packages and the hospital says with the tough economic times the layoffs are needed to keep the company financially strong.
