MISSION - With the recent violence at local schools, the Mission I.S.D. is making sure all of their emergency plans are up to date and in place.
One of the upgrades the district has implemented is going from paper flip emergency charts in classrooms to a new digital online emergency program named Rem4ed.
It's a program all school personnel and community emergency responders will have access to encase of emergencies. The program lists all the emergency procedures and gives a layout of the floor plans for each building in the district. All schools are expected to practice most of the emergency situations throughout the year Mission I.S.D. PIO Craig Verley stated, "It's often one of those things where everyone rolls their eyes, oh Lord, not another drill, but not only is it required by law that certain drills happen, but you want to make sure that you don't just do those drills, but you go beyond that in some of the training."
Verley says a few drills are done each month to make sure students, teachers and faculty are prepared in case of an emergency.
