MISSION - The importance of small businesses was one of the main points at the City of Mission's Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Wednesday.
A variety of speakers noted the importance of creating jobs on the local level an idea which Congressman Henry Cuellar fully supports. Congressman Cuellar says small businesses are a big reason the national unemployment rate is decreasing, "The Valley has been a big contributor in making sure we create new jobs. So I want to make sure we promote the small business person, he or she, whoever starts the business. We have to keep in mind that that's what creates three quarters of all the jobs we have here in the United States and locally."
To further instill the idea the city welcomed representatives from the University of Phoenix to speak as well since they are one of the newest employers in the Valley.
