The count down continues with the digital transition just four days away and hurricane season in full force and Valley leaders are urging everyone to be better prepared.
FCC advisors along with Cameron County officials met on Friday to discuss the importance of all Valley residents to acquiring converter boxes. They say, it's critical especially if an emergency like a hurricane hits, so all residents are able to get curial information via the television.
Judge Cascos says currently, 30% of the Valley's population is not ready for the digital transition, which takes place on June 12th. Many are still using off air antennas instead of cable or satellite. The FCC has hired installation contractors to help residents with their converter boxes. Officials are urging anyone with problems to call 211 or the Dtv hotline at 1.888.DTV.2009.
